Listen, there is a book that I read and listened to some time ago, and it’s called the garden within by Doctor Anita Phillips. And it’s such a wonderful and emotional ride in the book. The reason I love this book is because it gives me permission to feel and to be the emotional woman that we can all be at times. The reason it was such a great book because she addresses how rewarded we become when we are not emotional. I know some people love to say, oh, you’re so emotional. But you know, yesterday in light of my pastor and husband preaching a message talking about Jesus’s emotional day.

And the many times in Scripture where he did shed tears or where he was struggling to do what he came to Earth to do, and that is to sacrifice.  It’s his life. I think a lot of times we feel like if I’m an emotional in the middle of a process, then I am in some way weak. You know how it is. They celebrate children who get hurt and don’t cry. They celebrate people who go through. They call you strong. When you go through and you don’t show any emotion. While Jesus gave us emotion, we have teared up for a reason.

But somehow we seem to celebrate where we don’t use them now. Should they be leading the way all the time? No, but they have space and place in your life.  I realized that I didn’t always grieve well because I bypassed my emotions and a lot of my ability to work through things was leaving a cold. A cold space in my life, because emotional work is hard work, difficult conversations. That’s hard work.  Some people do it well. Some people do not. I am growing in that area and I just wanted to share this with you because a lot of times we’re trying to figure out why can’t we, why we can’t get past emotional things and situations with other people and what we do is.  We work our way through it, you know, and we just kind of sweep it under under the rug because getting the answers and understanding the why and understanding what the real feeling in your relationships is is not always easy work. And what we end up doing is throwing people away and that is not gracious. It’s not kind and it’s not Christ to be forgiving and understanding and growing.  I think is what allows us to become bigger people and we become a reflection of what God called us to do and that is to love people, to do life, to walk through life with people walking through life means we’re going to walk through different things, different seasons, different time.

And so your emotions are there are there times you know, the Bible says it’s a time for everything, right? A time to laugh, a time to cry. So you have to know when those times are. But don’t demonize or vilify yourself for how you feel. Don’t even demonize and vilify yourself if you feel like moving on from something, well, they won’t understand and they won’t. And they won’t. And they won’t. If you know, 100% in your heart, it’s time to move on, guess what? They are grown people and God loves them like he loves you. They will be OK and sometimes you have Superman syndrome. That’s why people stick around well, you know they not and they can’t and they not. So I gotta stick around here cause it makes you feel better to help somebody. I’m telling y’all these emotions can have us tangled, tangled up.

And I want us to get a good hold of them. So we live in a freer space. So we take a deep breath. So we appreciate all that. Life is not just the part that makes us feel good, but the part that causes us to grow. All right.
