Coloradans in the Games: Monday's results and Tuesday's lookahead for those with state ties in the Paris Olympics

Monday's news

- A comeback attempt for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team fell short in a 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 20-25, 15-13) loss to China.

The U.S., which started Colorado Springs native Haleigh Washington and Aurora’s Jordyn Poulter, entered the Games ranked fifth in the world, while China was ranked sixth.

- Durango residents Riley Amos (seventh) and Christopher Blevins (13th) competed Monday in the men’s cross country mountain bike event, finishing off the podium.

Three to watch

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s Olympic action with a focus on those with Colorado connections.

1. Pool play begins in 3-on-3 basketball for Colorado Springs native Canyon Barry, a Cheyenne Mountain graduate and son of NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry. Barry’s team includes former BYU star and Denver resident Jimmer Fredette.

2. Adrienne Lyle of Greenwood Village will compete in women’s dressage, starting with the individual competition.

3. Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is back in action for Canada, as it faces Australia.
