High school football practices began Monday in Brevard County and around the FHSAA. Follow 321preps.com all week, all month and all season for coverage of the area's programs.

    Rockledge Raiders

The Raiders kicked off their first official day of football practice Monday afternoon with first-year head coach Tyrone Giscombe leading the team.

Giscombe spoke about his expectations of the team during the first week of practice. With the team having around 13 seniors this year, Giscombe also said the team is a balanced mix of players from all grades with experience.

"I want to make sure that we can be organized; that's the number one thing," Giscombe said. "I want to make sure that everybody's running from one drill to the next, no walking, just some high energy and, most importantly, being organized."

    Space Coast Vipers

In Port St. John, Space Coast took the field on Monday with Jake Owens back as that team's head coach .

For the 2024 season, the Vipers will be competing in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference. They will start their season on Aug. 16, and Owens highlighted the team is looking to get the most out of its first three weeks of official practice.

"We have three weeks before our first official game. You know everybody else does kickoff classics on the 16th. Ours is actually official a real football game, so we basically have two weeks before our first game week to prep," Owens said.

    Bayside Bears

The Bears began their 2024 practices with 15 seniors, though second-year head coach Billy Williams said a significant number of underclassmen will play this season.

The returnees are led by returning quarterback Kaiden Brabham, and he now is being coached by a former signal caller from the program, Patric McNally.

Like Space Coast, Bayside will compete in the Sunshine State Athletic Association, which could aid in the rebuilding of the program after a winless year.

Along with Rockledge and Space Coast, four other programs kicked off the season with new head coaches , including Mitchell Brown at Palm Bay, Ted Kimmey at Cocoa Beach, Willie Tillman at Melbourne Central Catholic and Tony Gulla at Viera.
