Maori dancers interacted with them and Devin introduced himself as “a wanderer” who had lived many places.
Devin revealed his father had immigrated from Mexico, and Jenn said her Vietnamese parents were Buddhists and she’d want her future children to attend temple.
He seemed to enjoy learning about Jenn’s culture and noted, “I think I’m falling for her.”
Devin revealed to Jenn that his mother had a fling in college and got pregnant with him.
Devin’s father wasn’t in his life, but his mom “was very strong in those tough moments. She worked two jobs and went back to college.”
However, young Devin yearned to live with his dad, which he regretted, because his mother “never wavered once…she has taken care of me.”
“He decided to just not talk to me ever again,” she sighed to Devin.
Familywise, “We’re very similar,” he noted.
Devin admitted, “I’m falling for you and I’m not afraid to say it.”
Jenn told the cameras she’d never felt as appreciated by a man before.
The beauty gave Devin her second one-on-one date rose.
What twist happened at the end of the show?
As the guys prepared for the rose ceremony, host Jesse Palmer told cameras that a lover from Jenn’s past had contacted producers and flown himself to New Zealand “on his own dime” to plead his case with her.
Matt Rossi arrived and told Jesse he and Jenn had dated three years before and had stayed in touch.
“I’m here to tell Jenn, ‘I still love you,’” Matt informed Jesse.
Jenn was startled when Matt approached her. She gasped, “What are you doing here?!”
Matt told her he’d tried to attend a wedding in Columbia but left because he missed her.
The handsome insurance executive, 27, who has also done internet videos, wanted to prove “I’m not ready to let you go…give me the chance to show you.”
When Jenn asked if Matt was ready to get engaged, he said yes.
Jenn recalled how they’d reconnected as just friends after having dated three years earlier. He was NOT one of the “toxic” exes she’d already talked about on the show.
“I really do love you,” Matt insisted.
Jenn asked, “You want to date me and my 11 other boyfriends?”
Matt replied that yes, he wanted to join the show!
As the episode ended, Jenn took a break to think.
But a preview for next week showed that Matt was determined to stick around while the other men were livid.
Who went home on The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4?
Jenn only eliminated one guy, Sam Nejad, 25, the entrepreneur from Carlsbad, California.
After Jenn got caught off guard by the return of ex-boyfriend Matt, viewers didn’t get to see a rose ceremony on episode 4.
The surprise left Jenn with 11 suitors—or maybe still 12, if Matt remained!
