Jeopardy! fans 'yell at TV' as question stumps players who are 'too young for this'

In the season finale of Jeopardy! last Friday, one question left all the contestants stumped.

Davey Morrison, Steve Babish, and Rachel Bradley were all thrown when Steve picked the $800 question in the "We crack ourselves up" category. Host Ken Jennings read it out, "After Tim Conway's ad-lib story about Siamese elephants. Vicki Lawrence broke this show's cast with 'Sure that little (bleep) for through.'"

The competitors all stared blankly as the timer ran out. "Apparently we are all a little too young for The Carol Burnett Show," he joked.

Meanwhile, fans watching at home were screaming the answer at their TVs. They took to social media to share their frustrations.

"Oh, come on. How did they not know the Carol Burnett Show," one fan wrote on Twitter, now known as X. Another responded to that comment: "Because older tv is not fashionable amongst Jeopardy! geeks for whatever reason."

One person sarcastically added: "Wow. A Carol Burnett clue went unanswered in Jeopardy." A fourth wrote: "Carol Burnett Show! Classic TV screaming."

On an online forum for the show, one person penned: "Frequently, when there's a pop culture question from before, say, the mid eighties, the resulting stand-and-stare makes this AARP-eligible guy feel really old. So, I yell out 'too young!' at the screen to make me feel better. I feel like Ken's thinking the same thing a lot of the time, but only happened to mention it tonight."

"There's a definite age gap opening up between the writers and contestants," another said. The season finale ended with Rachel taking home the winning prize.

Jeopardy! is entering its summer break this week, taking time off between now and September 6. Between that time, the show will air at its usual time but will consist of reruns.

The reruns will be different tournaments, with the first being the Tournament of Champions. Afterwards, the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament will be replayed.

It's the tournaments that have fans online annoyed, thinking that this last season felt extra short due to all the tournaments. "It was a short season for regular play, just four months," one fan penned on social media.
