    Parishioners united to 'be the church' during two days of community service

    Marion First Church of the Nazarene and Dayspring Wesleyan Church came together this past weekend to serve the city and county with community service projects for those in need.

    Pastor Gregg Parkman from the Nazarene Church instructs his congregation each Sunday to “not just go to church, but to be the church."

    Parkman said Christianity is a lifetime commitment to service and humility.

    The service projects included mowing, picking up yard waste, small home repairs, painting, cleaning of all sorts and delivering food and gift baskets.

    All neighborhoods and villages in Marion County were included in the weekend of service.

    About 100 volunteers participated in the effort.
