Alsobrooks, 53, has led the state’s second most populous county as executive for about the last six years. Prior to that, she served as the county’s state’s attorney from 2011 to 2018.

Here's what she said about America's role in the world during a June 17 interview:

    • "America has a set of values. Those values include democracy, freedom, human rights, and integrity and those are issues that I stand by protecting human rights, and the rights and freedoms of others, and protecting democracy."
    • "It’s something that I believe ought to be intertwined in our foreign policy. It’s those values that make us American."
    • "Democracy and peace and human rights, those are American values."

Here's what he said about America's role in the world during a June 11 interview:

    • "I happen to believe very strongly that America is the leader of the free world, and that we need to get back to a point where we have a pretty clear foreign policy."
    • "I’m very concerned right now that some of our enemies no longer fear us and some of our allies wonder whether they should still trust us."
    • "I was a young guy involved with Ronald Reagan, and I believe in " peace through strength " and standing up for our allies and standing up to our enemies."
