Liverpool CEO has expressed his devastation in a heartfelt message to those affected by the stabbing in Southport on Monday.

The devastating attacks in the town, 20 miles away from Liverpool, resulted in the deaths of three children with others left seriously injured. Merseyside Police have detained a 17 year old on charges of murder and attempted murder as they probe the harrowing incident's cause.

Liverpool joined forces with Everton in a heartfelt message on Monday evening, extending love and support to everyone touched by the heartrending occurrence on Hart Street. Their joint tweet read: "Liverpool and Everton football clubs come together to send our love and support to all those affected by today's tragic events in Southport."

Liverpool's players remain in Philadelphia for their pre-season tour of the USA but Hogan took a moment to address the appalling events back home.

He said: "Before we start I just wanted to say that given the events that have taken place in Southport, the terrible events that have taken place there, our thoughts are with the victims of the families, so I didn't want to start without acknowledging that."

In the wake of the dreadful incident in Southport, Liverpool FC is poised to extend their heartfelt support to the affected families over the next days and weeks, offering help in any manner possible during this tragic time.

Liverpool's pre-season preparation is in full swing across the pond, as the team got down to business on Monday gearing up for their upcoming friendly against Arsenal.

The Reds managed a narrow victory over Real Betis last Friday in Pittsburgh, taking it 1-0. They now set sights on Arsenal, the Premier League's previous season second-placers, with a fixture scheduled at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
