Boar’s Head Provisions Co. is removing an assortment of items from stores following routine tests that revealed the presence of listeria monocytogenes , a bacterium that can trigger severe and sometimes deadly illnesses in vulnerable populations .
Boar's Head Provisions Co. Removes Liverwursts, Bacon And Other Meats From Stores Due To Listeria Outbreak
Nine products, including a liverwurst found to be contaminated with bacteria, are being recalled . Additionally, eight deli meats produced on the same production line and day are also affected. Across 13 states, 34 individuals have become ill after consuming the recalled items, and two have died.
As reported by Newsbreak, the recall includes 3.5-pound loaves encased in plastic, as well as assorted weight packages sliced in retail delis, all labeled with "Boar's Head Strassburger Brand Liverwurst MADE IN VIRGINIA." These items, distributed to retailers, have sell-by dates spanning from July 25, 2024, to August 30, 2024.
Contaminated Products Currently Being Recalled
Additional affected products are the 9.5-lb. and 4.5-lb. full packages, or various weights sliced in retail delis, of "Boar's Head VIRGINIA HAM OLD FASHIONED HAM" with a sell-by date of "AUG 10." More meats being pulled from shelves are 4-lb. packages, or varying weights sliced in retail delis, of "Boar's Head ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM" and "Boar's Head EXTRA HOT ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM," both with a sell-by date of "AUG 10."
And that's not all, as 4-lb. packages, or various weights sliced in retail delis, of "Boar's Head BOLOGNA" with a sell-by date of "AUG 10" are also being recalled. The listeria outbreak has prompted the removal of 2.5-lb. packages of "Boar's Head BEEF SALAMI" with a sell-by date of "AUG 10," 5.5-lb. packages of "Boar's Head STEAKHOUSE ROASTED BACON HEAT & EAT" with a sell-by date of "AUG 15," and 3-lb. packages of both "Boar's Head GARLIC BOLOGNA" and lastly, "Boar's Head BEEF BOLOGNA," each with a sell-by date of "AUG 10."
