Murder probe launched after man stabbed at Seven Sisters Tube station dies in hospital

A man who was stabbed at Seven Sisters Tube Station a weekago has died in hospital, police have confirmed.

Ervin Baraku, who was in his 30s, was rushed to hospital while sufferingwith stab wounds on Tuesday July 23.

British Transport Police charged a man, 20-year-old Milumo Pedrinho, withattempted murder and he was remanded in custody on Monday at court.

But police said on Wednesday that Mr Baraku died in hospital this morning,and a murder investigation has now been launched.

“Officers were called to Seven Sisters underground station at 8.48am on Tuesday 23 July to reports of a serious assault,” the force said, in a statement.

“Paramedics also attended and a man in his 30's was found with life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died this morning.”

Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, added: “Sadly today we can confirm the victim has died in hospital following the attack and we have launched a murder investigation.

“My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they navigate their loss, we continue to provide support through specialist officers.

"A 20-year-old man was previously charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon on 28 July. We are in touch with the Crown Prosecution Service following today's sad update.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to contact the force online, by calling 0800 405040, or by texting 61016 with the reference 171 of 23 July.

Pedrinho, of Stonebridge Road in Tottenham, currently faces charges of attempted murder and possessing a knife in a public place.

He was remanded in custody at Highbury Corner magistrates court on Monday, and is set for a further hearing at the Old Bailey on August 27.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after the incident, and was released on police bail.

An 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were also arrested and then released without charge.
