Channing Tatum, who appeared as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, took to social media to thank Ryan Reynolds for allowing him to be in the film.

What Was Channing Tatum’s Message to Ryan Reynolds About Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine?

In 2014, Tatum signed on to play Remy LeBeau/Gambit, a mutant hero who can control kinetic energy, in a solo film about the character. However, the film experienced numerous delays before falling through after the Disney and Fox merger.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Tatum finally made his live-action debut as Gambit, one of the superheroes that helps Deadpool and Wolverine escape the Void.

On X, Tatum posted two pictures of himself posing with Reynolds. One photo was from 2014 when Reynolds previewed Deadpool. The other was a photo from last week’s Comic-Con where Deadpool & Wolverine screened in Hall H. Tatum thanked Reynolds for always having his back and fighting for him to bring Gambit to the screen.

“I can say that there is almost no one that has had my back in this industry more than @VancityReynolds,” Tatum wrote. “I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But he fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy.”

After praising director Shawn Levy, Tatum expressed gratitude and appreciation for his involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine.

“All things happen for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this movie,” Tatum wrote. “It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. And just pure bad ass joy. I was literally screaming in the theater.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is now in theaters. The superhero movie opened to $211 million domestic, shattering the R-rated movie record held by Deadpool’s $132.4 million haul in 2016. $211 million is the sixth-biggest opening of all time for any film.
