    Early voting opens in Okaloosa and Walton counties on Aug. 10. What to know

    Want to beat long wait times or vote in a more convenient location?

    Starting Aug. 10, voters across the Emerald Coast can cast their ballots early for the Aug. 20 statewide primary elections.

    Here is what you need to know.

    When can I vote?

    The early voting period in Okaloosa and Walton Counties runs from Aug. 10-17.

    Okaloosa County's voting window will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. In Walton County, except Sunday, Aug 11, the voting window will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    According to the Walton County Supervisor of Elections website, voting will occur from 1 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 11.

    Where can I vote in Okaloosa County?

    • Okaloosa Supervisor of Elections Headquarters, 302 N Wilson St., Suite 102, Crestview
    • Okaloosa Supervisor of Elections Office: 1250 Eglin Parkway, Suite 103, Shalimar
    • Crestview Public Library: 1445 Commerce Drive, Crestview
    • Destin Community Center: 101 Stahlman Ave., Destin
    • Niceville City Hall: 208 N. Partin Drive, Niceville

    Where can I vote in Walton County?

    • Freeport City Hall: 112 State Highway 20 W., Freeport
    • Faith Assembly Church: 306 S. Geronimo St., Miramar Beach
    • South Walton Courthouse Annex: 31 Coastal Centre Blvd., Santa Rosa Beach
    • DeFuniak Springs Courthouse: 571 U.S 90 E., DeFuniak Springs

    What do I need to bring?

    Like on Election Day, the same rules for identity verification still apply for the early voting window.

    Poll workers are required to ask for valid photo and signature identification, and this can be done with any of the following methods:

    • Florida drivers license
    • Florida ID card issued by DHSMV
    • U.S. Passport
    • Debit or credit card
    • Military ID
    • Student ID
    • Retirement center ID
    • Neighborhood association ID
    • Public assistance ID
    • Veteran health ID card issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs
    • Concealed carry license
    • Employee ID card issued by any branch, department, or agency of the Federal government or state, county or municipality.

    What if I don't have proper identification?

    If identification or eligibility cannot be validated, a provisional ballot will be issued to you as long as you are eligible and in the proper precinct. Your provisional ballot will be scored as long as the signature matches the signature in your registration record.

    What if I want to vote by mail?

    In Okaloosa County, residents can request a vote-by-mail ballot online , by telephone, mail, e-mail, fax or in person, which can be mailed or picked up by the voter. All requests can be made up to 12 days before election day.

    Ballots in Okaloosa County must be delivered to the Elections Headquarters office in Crestview or the Branch Office in Shlaimar and must be returned to the elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

    In Walton County, absentee ballots can be requested by visiting the Walton County Supervisors of Elections website . Like Okaloosa County, ballots in Walton County can only be made up to 12 days before the election.
