Of all the projects talked about at the Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic Con, Section 31 stood out as something altogether new in the Star Trek franchise. Not only did we get to hear from some creatives including Olatundeo Osunsanmi, Omani Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, and Sam Richardson, but we got to chat with series star (and general queen of the moment) Michelle Yeoh via video! As if that wasn't exciting enough, we then got to watch the first Section 31 trailer, which you can view here:

Star Trek is one of the biggest and oldest sci-fi franchise stalwarts. By the time George Lucas brought Star Wars back in 1999 with The Phantom Menace, Star Trek was already nine movies deep, on what felt like its third reboot, and was in the middle of its fourth major TV series. Since then, the TV side of Trek has continued to diversify and grow into the 21st century, while Trek’s film output has been much smaller than it was back in the day.

Season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds brought fans the very first Star Trek musical, and while some weren't as excited about all the singing, others were impressed and looking forward to a potential second musical.
