The Starbucks app stopped working around 8:30 am ET, according to DownDetector , a website that monitors digital problems.

Coffee fans have also reported issues with the Starbucks website, which means the chain is likely unable to receive mobile orders.

Issues have been reported in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tampa, and other major cities, per DownDetector’s outage map.

Around 90% of the issues stem from the app, 8% have been reported at login, and 2% have been at checkout.

At least 33 million Americans use the Starbucks app, but the number of impacted users is unknown.

Order Ahead and Pay with Ease

    • One of the standout features of the Starbucks app is the ability to order ahead and pay at participating locations. Whether you’re rushing to work or simply don’t want to wait in line, this feature allows you to customize and place your order in advance. When you arrive at the store, your order will be ready for you, saving you precious time. You can pay using cash, a credit card, or a Starbucks Card, ensuring a seamless and flexible transaction.

Keep track of your Starbucks Rewards

    • The app provides a comprehensive view of the Stars and Rewards you’ve earned, regardless of your payment method. This feature ensures that you never miss out on earning Stars, helping you get closer to your next free drink or food item. The app updates in real time, so you always know exactly where you stand in the Rewards program.

    Locate stores

    • Whether you’re in an unfamiliar area or looking for the nearest drive-thru, the app’s store locator has you covered. Additionally, you can redeem special offers directly through the app. These offers, tailored to your preferences, provide opportunities to try new products or enjoy discounts on your favorites.

Around 25% of Starbucks’s transactions are through mobile orders.

The U.S. Sun reached out to Starbucks for comment and a representative shared that the app and website were back up and running as of 12:30 pm ET.

“Earlier today, some customers were briefly unable to access the mobile order and pay feature in the Starbucks app due to a third-party system outage,” said the representative.

“We’re happy to share that functionality for ordering ahead has largely been restored and customers are able to continue using the feature in the app.

“Our stores are open and ready to welcome customers and where pockets of limited interruption continue, we’re working to solve as quickly as possible.”

    FAN FURY

Many Starbucks customers were upset by the issues, venting their frustrations on social media .

“Starbucks app is down, corporate America found SHAKING,” said one X user.

“The Starbucks app is down. I had to order in person, like a savage!” another customer shared in the DownDetector comment section.

Others were annoyed that the outage occurred on a deal day—today, Starbucks is offering BOGO drinks from 12 pm through 6 pm .

“Of course something goes wrong during a promo day,” fumed one fan.

She explained she was attempting to order something for her husband on the app, but the Starbucks stores wouldn’t load.

She then deleted and reinstalled the app but was unable to even log in.

Other Starbucks customers shared screenshots from their apps, revealing they were booted out of their accounts with the app constantly reloading.

One user complained that the coffee chain’s app went down once every two weeks.

Some fans were upset that mobile orders weren’t working on their birthday, meaning they couldn’t receive their free birthday reward.

“It’s my birthday and the Starbucks app is down. This feels like a terrible conspiracy,” cried one customer.

In other Starbucks news, the chain abruptly closed a location featured in a hit TV show .

Plus, fans are fuming over the new cups and claim it “changes the taste.”
