Captain Sandy Yawn Stuns Andy Cohen With Shady Remark About ‘Below Deck Med’ Chef’s Cooking On ‘WWHL’

Captain Sandy Yawn brought the shade to the Bravo Clubhouse for Monday night’s (July 29) episode of Watch What Happens Live as she took shots at Chef Johnathan Shillingford’s cooking.
Host Andy Cohen introduced a game of “Air Their Dirty Laundry” in which Yawn had to name one thing each current Below Deck Mediterranean crew member could improve on.
According to the seasoned captain, bosun Iain Maclean could improve on his “attitude,” while third stew Bri Muller should not “let things get to [her] mentally.”
When Shillingford’s face appeared on the screen, Yawn wasted no time saying “his cooking” could use some improvement — which sent the live audience into hoots and hollers, while Cohen’s mouth dropped open in shock.
“I’m sorry. I like him very much, I have to admit,” Yawn said. “He’s a great guy. He’s a great guy.”
Yawn was outwardly critical of Shillingford’s food early on in the season when the chef started one day by serving cold eggs for breakfast.
“For a chef to say to me that he cooked the eggs when breakfast was supposed to start instead of cooking to order is a huge red flag,” Yawn said in the episode, per BravoTV . “But at the same time, he did well last charter [and] we’re mid-charter now. I have to give the chef the opportunity to show me that he can do this, finish this one strong, and then I will assess the next charter.”
However, he again failed to impress Yawn at dinner that night, serving an underwhelming main course of fresh pasta with tiger prawns and seared scallops.
“This is a super yacht. The food shouldn’t just be okay. It should be excellent,” she said. “Jono is 0 for two now.”
Earlier this month, Shillingford told WWHL how he felt about Yawn having a backup chef locked and loaded in the wakes in case she needed to fire him.
“Honestly, a little shocking,” he admitted. “Because I had no idea that was happening. But, to be fair, she’s a yacht captain and she has to look after the boat. And if that’s what she has to do, then I respect her decision.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock .
