Trump Posts Bonkers Conspiracy Theory the FBI Knew About — Or Even Ordered — Assassination Attempt

Former President Donald Trump , posted a bonkers conspiracy theory suggesting that the FBI had advance knowledge of — or even ordered — the assassination attempt against him.

Trump was injured in a shooting on July 13 — an assassination attempt that left Trump bloodied and Trump supporter/former firefighter Corey Comperatore dead as he shielded his family. The shooting sparked a deluge of criticism for the Secret Service — some more valid than others .

That attempt was the subject of a disastrous House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing that resulted in the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle .

FBI Director Christopher Wray also testified at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee to probe the shooting, which occurred despite ample evidence that Secret Service agents and local police were alerted to suspicious activity prior to the shooting. The circumstances have led to wild speculation on both sides of the political spectrum.

Trump made his contribution to the din in a late-night flurry of Truth Social posts that included re-posting one user’s suggestion , a photo of Director Wray pointing toward himself with a provocative caption:

RETRUTH IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO ORDERED THE ASSASSINATION OF DONALD J TRUMP

The photo of Wray is from the July 24 hearing about the assassination attempt.

Among the revelations from that hearing was the fact that the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks , flew a drone around the rally location several hours before the shooting:

Wray testified that the FBI had “recovered a drone that the shooter appears to have used,” which was “being exploited and analyzed by the FBI lab.” The drone was in the shooter’s vehicle along with its controller during the shooting, and it was recovered there by officials investigating the scene.

He added that it appeared that Crooks had flown the drone for about 11 minutes around “3:50 pm, 4:00 pm, in that window, on the day of the shooting” around the area, not the stage itself where Trump would speak roughly two hours later, but the vicinity “about 200 yards, give or take, away from that.”

The FBI believed Crooks had been live streaming to view the footage, said Wray, noting that conclusion was “qualified because of our ongoing review.”
