A woman wanted to give her sister-in-law some advice, but it didn’t go as planned.

She turned to Reddit to describe a recent situation with the name of her future niece or nephew . Ana, the sister-in-law, is eight months pregnant and has had a difficult time conceiving. In the last five years, Ana has had three miscarriages and an abortion after finding out the pregnancy wasn’t viable.

Her current pregnancy hasn’t been pleasant either, with consistent morning sickness and other health issues. She’s had to be on sick leave from work. Because of the stress, the Reddit user decided to host and plan the baby shower. She invited all of her sister-in-law's friends and family, and the party was a hit.

Ana decided to keep the gender of the baby a secret at the party, but she revealed the name they had decided on. The name she’s chosen is Five.

She wrote: “They want to name the baby Five as the number is the amount of years they have tried to conceive and it took them 3 miscarriages and one termination.”

In private, Ana asked what the Reddit user thought of the name. She told her that the symbolism might not mean as much to the future child as it does to her sister-in-law.

“I did say the word burden which led to Ana getting really upset and left, and my BIL followed her out.” Later, her brother-in-law called to say she ruined Ana’s baby shower. The user’s husband agreed that Five was a bad name, but said it wasn’t their place to say anything.

“Five is a unique name but I was just trying to point out the meaning of the name they had picked, and the implications of it.” In the comments, people agreed that the name Five will be an emotional burden on the child.

One said: “She really shouldn't do this but I think that she is probably so emotionally damaged from her history that she can't see past her pain. Poor kid, What a heavy burden they will carry - not just because of the name itself but because of the morbid reasons for it. Maybe they will give the child a more normal middle name and they will be able to go by it instead.”

“It’s awful that this kid is gonna have to grow up in the shadow of four kids who never made it to birth and have to deal with its parents' unresolved trauma forever because of their name.”
