    Champions Park opens in Paris, celebrates Olympic medalists

    PARIS, France (WCMH) — Champions Park, located at the Trocadero where the opening ceremony concluded, is officially open in Paris. The open-air complex celebrates medalists from the night before and stays open late for fans to watch Olympic competitions on big screens.

    On the first night, fans cheered for the gold-medal-winning French Rugby Sevens team, and Team USA fencer Lauren Scruggs was celebrated for her silver medal.

    The park also features a DJ and live performances every night. Notably, the U.S. figure skating team will receive their gold medals here after the Russian team’s forfeiture due to a doping scandal.
