Burrito Box was once just the place that we went to when the line was too long at the Hell's Kitchen Chipotle. Until we tried their chili con carne. Chock-full of ground beef with a dry chili pepper kick, you can get the hearty chili by itself, on nachos, in a quesadilla, or in a burrito. We’re partial to the burrito, where the beef is combined with some spanish rice and shredded cheese to make one salty, saucy, greasy parcel of food.

A good portion might fall out as you’re eating it, but that’s what you have those chips and salsa on the side for. Just keep in mind that it’s a counter spot with no seats, so you’ll need to find a surface somewhere else. Besides the chili con carne, Burrito Box has an extensive menu of tacos, tostadas, and bowls—but we’d only recommend those if you’re looking for more vegetarian options than your usual Mexican spot: besides mushrooms, they have mixed vegetables, seitan, and tofu.
