HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person killed in a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision on Monday along with releasing more information on what happened.

This happened at the 29-mile marker on the Edward Breathitt Parkway northbound just north of the Christian County and Hopkins County line.

Arriving deputies say they found 59-year-old Dewey L. Huff of Clarksville, Tennessee had been struck by a vehicle. Officials say deputies were advised by witnesses that Huff had been helping a semi change a flat tire on the emergency lane of the highway, and Huff had finished changing the tire and was standing in the right travel lane talking to the driver of the semi.

At that time, another driver from Columbus, Georgia, was traveling north in a 2023 Subaru Outback, towing a camper, hit Huff, causing life-threatening injuries. Huff was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office.

The collision is still under investigation.
