MSNBC political analyst Molly Jong-Fast claimed that Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance just wants “more white children” despite the fact that he has three biracial children with his wife Usha Vance during a discussion on Morning Joe Tuesday.

The segment began with host Jonathan Lemire making note of data suggesting that Americans are having fewer kids and want fewer kids.

“And Molly, the stats are there: More and more Americans choosing not to have kids. Which again emphasizes why JD Vance’s comments about childless Americans childless ladies could be so politically damaging,” declared Lemire.

“Well, so what’s interesting is this is this natalism that comes from an authoritarian playbook, right? That there there need to be more white children, right? That’s the idea that there’s, you know, this is about great replacement theory racism, right?” replied Jong-Fast. “This is what this, don’t misunderstand it. For him wanting more children, he wants a certain kind of, you know, racist thing. So I would say, yeah, it’s certainly true. And attacking people for not having children is really cruel, right? Because some people can’t have children, some people, you know, want to have children and, you know, can’t, you know, miss the window. So I do think it’s it’s really just a very terrible way to go after people.”

Lemire, who also serves as the ostensibly straight-laced White House bureau chief for Politico , did not push back on Jong-Fast’s claim or even note that the rest of Vance’s nuclear family is not white.

Immediately preceding Vance’s speech at the Republican National Convention earlier this month, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow attempted to link Vance’s interest in The Lord of the Rings series to the far right. And immediately following said speech, her colleague Alex Wagner argued that Vance’s desire to be buried in his family’s plot in Kentucky was an “easter egg of white nationalism.”

Vance has been criticized in recent days over his commentary on childless Americans, some of whom he denigrated as “cat ladies.”
