There were more than 193,000 “white dudes” in attendance on Monday night’s Zoom call rallying support for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris , including a surprise appearance by the most iconic white dude of them all: Jeff Bridges .

Bridges played The Dude, a mediocre Los Angeles man who sports bathrobes and flip-flops and smokes marijuana, in the 1998 film The Big Lebowski.

“I qualify,” Bridges said on the Zoom call. “I’m white, I’m The Dude, and I’m for Harris.”

The Zoom call, which lasted over three hours, was a who’s who of white dudes, including actor Mark Hamill, best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, NSYNC boy band member Lance Bass, filmmaker J.J. Abrams, singer Josh Groban, and actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sean Astin, Bradley Whitford, and Josh Gad.

The “White Dudes for Harris” call also included Democratic Party heavyweights, such as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL), Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD).

Donors raised more than $4.2 million for Harris’s campaign during the event.

One of the biggest points that the gathering of white men talked about was that Harris would protect reproductive rights.

“Men are more free when the leader of the free world and the leader of this country supports access to birth control and to IVF,” Buttigieg said during the call.

This gathering was inspired by the “Win With Black Women” Zoom call that raised $1.5 million and had 44,000 participants.

“White Women for Harris” had 164,000 women on its Zoom call and raised more than $8.5 million for the Harris campaign.

Historically, there has been a gap between white men and white women when it comes to political affiliation. As of 2017, 48% of white women identified with the Democratic Party, compared to 37% of white men who considered themselves Democrats.
