An episode of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta went viral last year when Erica Mena got into it with Dancehall icon, Spice, and called her a “blue monkey.”

The racially-charged remark caused much backlash for the latin descendant — even so much that she was fired from the VH1 reality show Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta .

Mena apologized in 2023 with a statement to TMZ , and she recently appeared on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast where she doubled-down on her remorse. However, Spice still isn’t buying it as she’s dubbed Mena’s most recent sentiments as “phony.”

The Jamaican star responded under a repost of Mena’s new interview where she called out the 36-year-old for taking on a “victim mentality” to get sympathy.

“Take me out of the equation since you still have a Victim mentality in our situation,” she wrote on The Shade Room . “Remember you are a repeated offender. You have no remorse for a culture that put millions of [dollars] in your pocket. You could have said anything but you chose to disrespect a whole Nation.”

Spice also insinuated that the “blue monkey” comment wasn’t the first time Mena said something racially-backed, but it was the first time her remark was caught on camera. “You couldn’t sit at my table because I been knew you think you’re better than dark skin girls ,” Spice declared. “I heard how you spoke about me behind my back, you just got caught on camera that day.”

The “So Mi Like It” singer’s response comes after Mena sat with Newton and admitted, “My actions have a lot more of an impact than I thought it had. I’m disappointed in the fact that I let down women of color who felt that I was speaking in that manner.”

She added that she did wish that more of Spice’s “actions were shown” in the episode, “so the audience had a better understanding of what provoked me.”

According to Mena, Spice bringing up her kids and motherhood is what made her lash out.
