Here’s Why Captain Sandy Yawn Should Have Let Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller Go

Below Deck Mediterranean is supposed to be chill. Viewers are supposed to watch the crew intermingle with a few boatmances as they watch the tropical landscape change. But the two stews, Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller , are giving us all a major headache. One to rival Zeus’ birth of Athena from his own head. The two ladies have been arguing over Joe Bradley for almost the entire charter season. Yes, you read that right. These highly accomplished women are fighting over a boy. Both crossed the lines of professionalism at some point, and I believe Captain Sandy Yawn should have had them walk the plank.

It is safe to say that Bri and Ellie will not be best friends anytime soon. While that is perfectly okay, in a working environment, you have to learn to get along with people you do not like. But writing up a potential burn book is not okay in any world. While a traditional burn book like from the mid-2000s would consist of names of people you hated and reasons why, Bri’s was more of a tattle tale journal. It seemed to me that she was writing everything down that went wrong in the laundry room mainly because she thought Ellie was sabotaging her.

However, Bri seems to have a long history of insubordination on boats. She openly admitted in a confessional that she had issues on her previous yacht, which were due to her. While that type of news isn’t necessarily a red flag in itself, her phone call home was. Bri’s mother told her there’s a difference between being assertive and what people normally perceive you as. While Bri saves face in her confessionals and claims that people see her as too cheeky, her own mother seems to admit that her daughter is usually the problem. Cue Taylor Swift’s line, “Hi, I’m the problem. It’s me.” I can’t help but feel Bri does a lot of things out of spite.

    Ellie Dubaich’s power trip

Listen, the second stew is just as dramatic as the third stew. Ellie has a way of twisting the truth. Like most fights, there are two sides, and the truth is somewhere in the middle. While Ellie might have a point about the hierarchy of the boat, she is taking her two stripes to the next level. Sadly, the green-eyed monster has gotten a hold of Ellie ever since Joe picked Bri.

It’s obvious Bri isn’t the best at her job, but Ellie is taking all her frustrations out on her co-workers instead of talking them out. After the most recent episode where Ellie couldn’t time manage lunch service, even she isn’t looking too great at her job. The Slovenian native has an ego the size of the Mystique, and it isn’t attractive. She needs to bring her attitude down a notch and show more respect to Captain Sandy while conducting herself more objectively.

I don’t relish Captain Sandy in her current predicament. Instead of abiding by Aesha Scott’s advice, both Bri and Ellie are still arguing over Joe. The sneak peek of the next episode showed Ellie throwing caution to the wind and making out with Joe in front of Bri. From the preview, it is clear that their feud only deepens. Bri is caught talking back to Ellie, to which the second stew replies, “You don’t know how boats work. Second stew outranks you. So that is who I am.”

Between Bri sleeping in the boy’s cabin, Ellie making moves on Joe, and neither being able to make an acceptable cocktail, Captain Sandy has her work cut out for her. Personally, I think both should be fired and replaced due to their insubordination. And it seems like the captain might agree as she stated right before the cameras cut, “If you two can’t work together, I have to let go of both.”

Below Deck Mediterranean can be streamed on Peacock.

TELL US — DO YOU THINK BRI AND ELLIE SHOULD BE FIRED? OR ARE THEY MAKING FOR GOOD TV?
