Fred Trump III, former President Donald Trump’s nephew, revealed that he intends to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris this November, stating he can support her policies “without question.”

Trump’s nephew was on ABC's The View to promote his new memoir All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way, in which he wrote why he did not vote for his uncle in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. When asked about this November’s election, he said he would be willing to campaign for Harris “without hesitation” if he were asked.

“I believe in policy over politics, and without question, Kamala Harris’s policies are what I’d get behind,” Trump said. “So I will be voting for Kamala Harris, and if I’m asked, I will campaign for her without hesitation.”

Trump also claimed that his uncle will run for president again should he lose in 2024, arguing “he ain’t going anywhere.” His endorsement to Harris was also shared online by the Harris campaign.

During his interview, Trump also recalled a phone call in 1999 he shared with his uncle, during which he claims he told his uncle that the medical fund for his disabled son was running low. He then recalled how his uncle, who had consistently replenished the fund, suggested he let his son die “without skipping a beat” and move to Florida.

Trump’s campaign issued a statement to ABC News ahead of the interview, arguing Fred Trump’s claim is “completely fabricated” and “a lie so blatantly disgusting.”

“Anyone who knows President Trump knows he would never use such language, and false stories like this have been thoroughly debunked,” the statement said.

The Washington Examiner has contacted Trump’s campaign for additional comment following this interview.

Fred Trump is not the only relative to distance themselves from the former president, as Mary Trump, his niece, has been a frequent critic of her uncle. Last year, she questioned why Trump, a “f***ing maniac,” is “still allowed to roam free,” a reference to the legal battles he is dealing with while campaigning for president.

Polling data have shown Harris receiving a boost in her favorability rating since President Joe Biden bowed out of the 2024 race, going from 35% to 43% in about a week . In a hypothetical matchup among likely voters between her and Trump, the former president leads Harris by just 1% , which is within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
