DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder has issued a series of warnings for Northeast and North Central Colorado, highlighting a combination of extreme heat, air quality concerns, and critical fire weather conditions. Residents in affected areas, including Fort Collins, Boulder, and the Denver metropolitan area, are advised to take precautions.

Heat Advisory Details

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MDT today, with temperatures expected to soar between 98 to 101 degrees. The advisory covers a broad region, including Larimer, Boulder, and Jefferson counties, as well as Denver and its surrounding suburbs. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned environments, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The high temperatures pose a significant risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Air Quality Alert and Fire Risk

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has also issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for multiple pollutants, including smoke from the Alexander Mountain Fire. The advisory is in effect from 9 AM Tuesday until 9 AM Wednesday, particularly impacting southeastern Larimer County, including Loveland. The smoke is expected to cause moderate to heavy air quality issues, especially in the late morning and afternoon. Elevated ozone levels are also anticipated, potentially exacerbating respiratory conditions.

Critical fire weather conditions are forecasted for the northern Front Range mountains and foothills, as well as North and Middle Parks. Low humidity and breezy conditions create a high risk for rapid fire spread. Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution, particularly in areas with dry vegetation.
