Firefighters get some containment on the Gwen Fire in Latah County

NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho -- Firefighters in Idaho are making progress on the Gwen Fire burning in Nez Perce and Latah counties.

UPDATE July 30, 2024 9:44 p.m.:

The Idaho Department of Lands said the Gwen Fire is now 34% contained.

According to Idaho Department of Lands, the Gwen Fire is now 10% contained at 28,805 acres. This is the first growth of containment since the fire started last Wednesday from lightening.

Both Highway 12 and Highway 3 have been reopened but some Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuations remain in effect.
