If you're one of the countless people who can't get enough of Sonic 's burgers, tater tots, and extensive array of refreshing drinks, you'll be thrilled to hear the latest news from the popular fast food chain.

In a press release on Monday, July 29, the restaurant announced the new Sonic Smasher, billed as "a premium cheeseburger without the premium price tag." Featuring two Angus patties layered with American cheese, Smasher sauce, pickles and diced onions on a soft potato bun, the Smasher will only set you back around $6.49 (prices vary by location).

Currently on sale through the Sonic app, the Smasher won't be available nationwide until Monday, Aug. 5, but Redditors who've taste-tested the burger ahead of its official arrival next week are already raving about it.

"We have started selling it at my sonic here and it is amazing," wrote a Sonic employee. "If it sells well corporate is going to make this the standard patty and replace the old pattys."

"It is absolutely fantastic," agreed another Reddit user.

"Our mission at Sonic has always been to bring fun, craveable food to our guests at unbeatable prices,” said Sonic CMO Ryan Dickerson in a statement.

“With the Sonic Smasher, our culinary experts have allowed us to take that commitment to the next level. This burger is not just hand-smashed—it’s a blend of textures and flavors that come together for a cheeseburger that’s crispy, juicy and melty all at once. It’s a cheeseburger that you wouldn’t expect from a fast-food brand, and it’s available to everyone," Dickerson added in what appears to be a subtle dig at other quick service restaurants' pricing .

Hungry Sonic lovers looking for more deals this summer can also take advantage of the recently launched FUN.99 Menu, which includes a number of menu items for just $1.99 each.
