Marshall Mathers has finally confronted Slim Shady in person after he killed off his toxic alter ego on his latest album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) .

As a part of Complex's new cover story that arrived on Tuesday, July 30, Marshall and Slim sat down for a one-on-one conversation that exposed the mindset of both personas who made Eminem the rapper he is today. The conversation begins after the AI-generated version of his 26-year-old self recites the opening line of his 1999 hit "My Name Is." From there, the 51-year-old Marshall goes back and forth with Slim before he recalls memories from their past that impacted their career.

"You're not f**king Taylor Swift," Slim told Marshall. "You had one era that matters — mine. Everything people think of when they think of Eminem is f**king yours truly from the blonde hair to the middle finger to the f**king jokes, all of it — me. And if we're being honest the music you've been dropping since I bounced ain't it. Like forreal? When I heard your last shit I thought that s**t was AI."

"So you think it's entertaining to just be a dickhead and piss people off?" Marshall replied. "Man I've grown up bro. My fanbase has grown up. The world's changed f**king people are way more sensitive now. Every other week on TikTok, Gen Z discovers you on Monday and cancels me on Tuesday."

Slim Shady clearly doesn't give a f**k. The two continue to debate over the actions of Slim's past and how they have affected Marshall's present. Eventually, Slim cracked open several cans of Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop started to bond with Marshall over the trauma they've endured from their addiction to their past issues with everyone from Ja Rule to Machine Gun Kelly . He even admits MGK slept with his mother Debbie Mathers. In the end, they both put aside their differences to make Eminem the top-tier artist he is today.

"I needed this trauma bonding s**t to f**king help me protect me peace," Slim told Marshall while slurring his words. "No one understands how toxic it is to always be the bad guy."

"Don't be so hard on yourself snowflake," Marshall replied. "You're not the bad guy."
