“The film tells the gripping story of a recuperating photographer who suspects his neighbor may be a murderer,” reads the synopsis. “As the mystery develops, he enlists his girlfriend to help him investigate and piece together the clues as they race to bring the full picture into focus.”

When is the Rear Window 70th anniversary theatrical release dates?

In celebration of its 70th anniversary, Rear Window will be heading back to theaters nationwide on Sunday, August 25 at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm local time; and Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00 pm local time. Tickets for the special screenings are available at Fathom Events, or at participating theater box offices.

Each screening will include an exclusive introduction by cinema legend Leonard Maltin, as he gives viewers an in-depth look at the iconic film which was famously described as “The Essential Hitchcock.”

The 1954 movie was directed by Hitchcock from a screenplay written by John Michael Hayes, based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1942 short story titled, It Had to Be Murder. It was led by James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Raymond Burr, Thelma Ritter, and Wendell Corey. For their work on the film, Hitchcock and Hayes both earned Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay, respectively.
