Simone Biles' Husband Wants Fans To Know That He's Her Greatest Cheerleader at Paris Olympics

There were no flight delays for Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens. He took off from Chicago on Monday, July 29, and landed in Paris, France about five hours before she hit the mat for her gold-medal-winning performance in the team finals. The NFL player also made sure to show whose corner he is in  — Owens is proving to be the GOAT’s biggest cheerleader.

The Chicago Bears safety wore a T-shirt that screamed how proud he was of his wife. (See the photo HERE .) The bold, red capitalized letters had “BILES” in across the front with multiple snapshots of his wife in various gymnastics poses. If that wasn’t enough, he was rocking the American flag to show his Team USA pride. He didn’t post any photos on his Instagram account once the meet started because he was completely focused on what his wife was doing on the mat.

Owens has been there with her every step of the way for what Biles and her teammates are calling the “Redemption Tour” after winning silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He has supported the long road of her comeback journey which, as a professional athlete, he understands well. “It’s super exciting just because I get a chance to see all the work that she puts in prior to, and you know what? Everything she goes through and dealing with the media and everything, and she still goes out there and does it,” he told People . “It’s just impressive and goes to her training mindset and consistency. That’s the biggest thing, is how consistent.”

He’s come a long way from his late 2023 controversy when he told The Pivot that he believed he was “the catch” in the relationship. Biles’ fans came out of the woodwork criticizing him for his poor choice of words when he’s married to a rare talent that only comes around once in a lifetime. The backlash was endless, and it got to the point that Biles asked the internet to back off .

In May, she posted on her Instagram Story with a loud and clear message — she supports Owens. “I’m going to quickly address this; the joke was never a joke! Y’all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship & my husband. So, I’m gonna go ahead and say this one time. Respectfully, f**k off,” she wrote. “[And] if you keep commenting or tweeting at me I’m just going to block you. Simple as that.” Of course, she wasn’t done, adding, “And no I don’t need to touch grass or whatever tf y’all suggest….@ everyone else that supports us, we love y’all so much.”

Owens took the criticism well, telling Us Weekly that he largely ignored what the internet had to say — he knows that his relationship with Biles is rock solid. “I have all my social media notifications off, so I didn’t even know for a while,” he said “I was actually with my mom and Simone whenever it came out, so, all the comments and everything, I just let them read it. I try to stay off of it, and obviously, if you feel like stuff is kind of getting out of hand, that’s when you reach in and say something.”

Their marriage is nothing but gold.
