Good afternoon everyone. While we were focused on tonight's severe weather issues likely to impact parts of the Upper Midwest and Central States, heavy morning storms in Illinois snuck by and survived the trip into Kentucky.
Heavy storms bumping into high heat, humidity, and sunshine have helped reignite a dying cluster, and now a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service until 9pm ET for parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.
These storms already have a history of penny size hail and winds near 60mph as they move to the ESE and the as cluster grows back from the west. We will continue to watch these storms to see if they possibly survive the trip into parts of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and maybe even Virginia.
Look for the continuation of severe weather, and we will add larger hail and isolated tornadoes possible as these storms grow in size and scope.
We also continue to watch for the possibility of severe weather in areas of Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois later this evening into the overnight hours. These storms will be capable of very large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and isolated tornadoes.
