Slingshot Trailer Previews Sci-fi Thriller Starring Casey Affleck & Laurence Fishburne

The first Slingshot trailer is out, previewing the upcoming sci-fi psychological thriller starring Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishburne. It is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on August 30, 2024.

Slingshot is directed by Mikael Håfström from a screenplay written by R. Scott Adams and Nathan Parker. Alongside Affleck and Fishburne, the film also stars Emily Beacham, Tomer Capone, and David Morrissey.

What happens in the Slingshot trailer?

The Slingshot trailer shows off a group of astronauts as they navigate a long missions to Saturn’s moon, and the various issues that come from the trip.

“A psychological thriller starring Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishburne, Slingshot follows an elite trio of astronauts aboard a years-long, possibly compromised mission to Saturn’s moon Titan,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “As the team gears up for a highly dangerous slingshot maneuver that will either catapult them to Titan or into deep space, it becomes increasingly difficult for one astronaut to maintain his grip on reality.”

For Affleck, this is his second starring role in 2024, alongside The Instigators, which he stars in opposite Matt Damon. Fishburne will star in several films this year, including Francis Ford Coppola’s Maegalopolis and the animated film Transformers One.
