How to Make Sprite Taste 10x Better
By Jessica Wrubel,

One of the easiest and tastiest summer drinks can be all yours in under two minutes. Perfect for pool days, summer nights on the patio or just a fun mid-afternoon treat, an ice cream float is decidedly retro, but we'd argue that the treat never goes out of style. Root beer and vanilla ice cream is a classic combo, but the ice cream and soda pairings you choose to use are only limited by your imagination.
We were reminded of this fact via a Reddit thread, which inspired a deep dive into ice cream floats (yum!) to see what else is out there. We decided to try one of the zanier pairings suggested in the thread, and we're sure glad we did. Here's what you need to know about a Sprite and lime sherbet float —and why you need to make one asap.
An ice cream float is simply ice cream in a glass topped with the soda (or other sparkling drink) of your choice. Over on the subreddit r/AskAnAmerican , people are sharing the combinations of ice cream floats that they’ve been making, and many of them sound delicious. Vanilla ice cream with orange soda ; Dr. Pepper with chocolate ice cream; and Coke with strawberry ice cream are just a few of the suggestions floating around over on Reddit. But among the colorful, creative mix of ideas, one combo caught my eye: lime sherbet and Sprite.
Stick a pint glass in the freezer to get it nice and frosty. When that's ready, take it out and plop in two generous scoops of lime sherbet. Top the ice cream with Sprite and add a cherry on top if you so desire. Sip your electric elixir with a pretty straw but have a spoon on deck for eating the dregs of sherbet (you wouldn't dare let that go to waste, now would you?).
What I Thought About the Lime Sherbet Ice Cream Float
And after trying it, I've gotta say that they're onto something here. Don't get me wrong, I love Sprite, but it can be a tad too sweet for my liking. Adding the lime sherbet to the lemon-lime soda makes it that much more citrusy, plus it turns it super creamy.
The one-two punch of zesty zing of the lime sherbet counteracts the sugary carbonation of the soda. And let's talk about aesthetics! The color of this two-ingredient cream soda float is the most pleasing shade of neon lime green. I can't wait for the oohs and ahhs when I make this dessert for my Labor Day BBQ . It was also giving Grinch vibes (in the best way), so I might also consider rolling this back out around the holidays because every season is ice cream float season, right?
