Today marks the start of the 2024 Monster Energy Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN, and the racing is already intense for the sports rising stars. It's hot and humid, and these riders will be tested all week.

The first 250 Pro Sport moto saw the top A-level 250 riders worldwide battling for the championship, which will be decided after three motos. This once-a-year event is crucial for these athletes as they aim to showcase their skills for a future in professional motocross, with strong performances throughout the week being key.

In this first moto, New Zealand’s Cole Davies, riding for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team, grabbed the holeshot and led all 13 laps to take the win. This is Davies’ first time competing at "The Ranch," and he made it look effortless. A significant first-corner pile-up took out one of the top prospects, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Drew Adams. Despite this setback, Adams charged from nearly last place on the first lap to finish in 4th position, keeping his championship hopes alive.

NSA Factory Racing Yamaha teammates Avery Long and Leum Oehlhof both put in impressive performances, finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, despite recovering from injuries. Leum had been dealing with an ankle injury leading up to this year's qualifiers, while Avery was recovering from knee surgery after the Winter National Olympics (Mini O’s) last November.

Californian Enzo Temmerman, another Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki racer, worked through the pack to finish 5th in the moto.

Trevin Nelson, a North Carolina native riding for the Muc-OFF/ClubMx/FXR Yamaha team, started the moto strong, running in second place. He eventually faded back some positions towards the end, fell in one of the many ruts on the track, and recovered to finish sixth.

These Pro Sport classes are just a fraction of the over 30 races ranging from 4 years old to the Master 50+ class that will be happening all this week. You can catch all the action live on the RacerTV YouTube channel.
