Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz wear luxury watches at Olympics worth staggering amount

The duo of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz share another love besides tennis. "Nadalcaraz" were both seen donning luxury watches in the build-up to the Paris Olympics. Nadal , of course, was wearing yet another Richard Mille worth north of $1 million as he continued his tradition with the Swiss watch brand.

Perhaps the timepieces have served as a good omen for the dominant Spanish duo. The famed pair is competing in doubles at the Olympics for the first time and secured passage to the quarterfinals with a narrow win on Wednesday.

Nadal and Alcaraz took down the unseeded Dutch duo of Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof to set up a date with the American pair of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram -- both have been ranked No. 1 in the world for double in the last two years.

Nadal was sporting the new RM 27-05 Flying Tourbillon "Rafael Nadal." The watch weighs just 11.5 grams, can withstand 14000g acceleration and sells for $1.2 million.

"Rafa and I have a life-long commitment," Richard Mille says of Nadal on his site. "We are there come rain or shine. It is more than just watchmaking – it’s life!” Mille describes his pieces as a "second skin" for the Spanish champion.

Only 80 pieces of the new RM 27-05 were created. Watch expert Hodinkee explains: "The point here isn't to create an ultra-accessible product. The point is to create a watchmaking marvel that works for a superstar athlete. Rafa can wear a flying tourbillon on the tennis court and feel comfortable doing it, too."

Meanwhile, Alcaraz was pictured donning the Rolex Day-Date 228238. Retailing for around $60,000, the Day-Date 228238. features baguette-cut hour markers - apt considering the location of the Olympics.

Alcaraz joined as a Rolex sponsor in early 2022 and has been seen wearing many pieces from the Swiss brand ever since, including the famous Rolex Daytona throughout Wimbledon .

The young Spaniard has also performed excellently in single so far at the Paris Olympics. Seeded second, Alcaraz easily dispatched opponents Hady Habib and Tallon Griekspoor -- the same man he beat with Nadal in doubles -- to advance to the third round.

Nadal earned a spot in the single draw on the back of his protected ranking. He beat Marton Fucsovics in the first round before unluckily drawing longtime rival Novak Djokovic . The Serbian defeated Nadal in straight sets to end his Olympic single journey.

Nadal is looking to win his second gold medal in the doubles, topping the field alongside fellow Spaniard Marc Lopez. "For me, it is a dream to play with Rafa," explained Alcaraz .

Alcaraz has a date with Russian player Roman Safiullin in the third round as he looks to add a gold medal (or two) to his already glistening trophy cabinet.
