After Monday's drama, the New England Patriots needed a nice and quiet day out on the field where the focus was just on football.

However, one player's absence shined, proving that things inside the building are not all smooth sailing.

But after that, there was also plenty to see during the actual practice.

So let's get into all of the takeaways from Day 6 of Patriots training camp.

    1. Matthew Judon is missing

After coming out on the field without his pads on Monday and then proceeding to sit on the mats for the beginning of training camp, Judon was missing from action on Tuesday.

The linebacker is seeking a new deal, but had previously said he would play on his contract if he had to. Now things have changed. Judon had animated discussions with head coach Jerod Mayo along with Eliot Wolf while on the field, and it ended with him walking away.

Now according to one report, Judon wasn't even in the building prior to Tuesday's practice.

It seems the two sides are the farthest they have been since beginning the contract negotiations.

    2. Starting offensive line seems set

While Mayo has told reporters repeatedly that there is no set offensive line yet, the way practice has gone says differently.

For the past few days, it is the same five players in the same spots that line up with what is presumed to be the "starting" offensive group during drills.

Rookie Caedan Wallace has impressed, and is holding down that left tackle spot, while Chukwuma Okorafor has taken the right side.

Mike Onwenu has moved back to guard, playing next to Okorafor on the right, and Sidy Sow is on the left.

In the middle, it is expected that David Andrews will of course take that spot. But the center has been absent the last two days, and Nick Leverett has been filling in.

    3. Davon Godchaux and Robert Kraft talk

With all the contract talk it seems fitting that we also have to mention Davon Godchaux. However, his deal might be closer to getting done after his agent was watching practice on Monday and he has been out in pads each day.

Plus, it was a good sign when Robert Kraft, who came out to catch a few minutes of practice, sought out Godchaux and had a small discussion with him on the sideline.

    4. Drake Maye looks like a rookie (and that's okay)

The difference between playing in college and playing in the NFL is major. So any rookie is going to have some growing pains when it comes to the transition.

And quarterback Drake Maye is no different.

Maye played mainly with the second offense today and had some trouble getting things going. It included a particularly difficult 11-on-11 period where he went 1-6.

But what's important to remember here is he wasn't playing with the top offense. So the offensive line was very shaky as well.

This is only the second day in pads for the rookie and there is plenty of time until the season begins. Plus, they have a solid starter for the year in Jacoby Brissett if Maye needs time to transition.

    No need to panic.

    5. Quarterback Stats

    11v11
    Jacoby Brisset: 5/11
    Drake Maye: 5/11
    Joe Milton III: 3/5

    7v7
    Jacoby Brisset: 2/4
    Drake Maye: 3/4
    Joe Milton III: 3/4

    6. Ja'Lynn Polk impresses

Along with a quarterback, the New England Patriots needed a true offensive weapon. While they looked for one in free agency and even through a trade, they also turned towards the draft.

    Enter Ja'Lynn Polk.

The former Washington receiver was drafted by New England in the second round, and has already impressed in such a short time on the team.

Each day has looked better than the next, and on Tuesday, he went 3-1 in his 1-on-1s, along with making some nice grabs from Maye and Brissett during the team drills.

It's just the start of the preseason, so Polk will have a lot more time to show what he can do.

    7. Laps and pushups for the offensive

The defense dominated on Tuesday, and that also meant that the offense was stuck with the punishment.

The first one was their fault, as the entire offense had to run a lap due to a substitution error. It was the overall sloppiness that had Jerod Mayo upset.

The offense then had to all do pushups after Drake Maye fired the ball to Javon Baker, but it was broken up by cornerback Shaun Wade.

    8. Lots of players missing

Along with Judon, there were a lot of other players who were not participating on the field.

Jabrill Peppers, David Andrews, Christian Barmore, Jaheim Bell and Marte Mapu were all absent to start the session, along with Sione Takitaki, Cole Strange, Jake Andrews and Kendrick Bourne, who are on PUP.

Bourne did join his teammates in his jersey but without the pads for the stretch period, but didn't participate in any of the drills.

Mapu has been out on the field watching practice without participating for the past few days, and on Tuesday he was joined by Peppers during one of the drills. The veteran safety was even yelling out to his teammates and helping them out. He had a compression sleeve on his left leg.
