General Hospital fans fume as one character is 'immune to anything' in latest twist

Tuesday's episode of General Hospital had a twist that some fans saw coming, but they still didn't enjoy.

Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) was being arraigned for violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act - otherwise known as the RICO Act. The government claimed that they had a recording of Carly implicating herself in these crimes.

As Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) asked the judge to dismiss the case, the prosecution allowed the dismissal. As the judge talked to the attorneys, the prosecution revealed that their one piece of evidence - the recording - had mysteriously been deleted.

Without any evidence, Carly is set free. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the dismissal so soon with one writing on X, formally known as Twitter: "Thats it? Evidence gone? I wasn't expecting Carly to go to prison but I did think it would last longer than a day."

"I did not see that coming," another fan wrote sarcastically, "Carly not having to take responsibilty for her actions, say what now Good on #Gh for Continually keeping the viewers on its toes."

A third wrote on Reddit: "Okay, that was even easier for Carly than I expected. This show..." While a fourth added: "A #GH story that went on way too long having a meh climax? Shocker!"

"The problem is it is all such bulls--t writing, so there was no tension with Carly," another fan penned, "Yet another man handed everything to Carly with no effort or even merit on her part. Just her mere Carly presence is enough to make her immune to anything."

Even fans of the controversial character were a bit annoyed. "I’m not even a Carly hater but it would be nice if she faced some consequences every once in a while," someone else commented on Reddit.

After Carly's dismissal, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) chastised Carly and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) for not telling him about the recording until it was too late for him to do something. He ends the episode saying it was fine that neither of them trusted him but he was going to "take care of Jagger myself," referring to the government agent in charge.
