Before he became Joe Hill, the newest member of the Reagan family on Blue Bloods , Will Hochman was starring in the Broadway show The Sound Inside , alongside Mary-Louise Parker . But nowadays, Will Hochman has traded his stage time for a spot alongside Tom Selleck and Will Estes as a fellow cop on the CBS series.

    Will Hochman's early career

Hochman's acting career first began in 2015, at the age of 23, with a few minor parts on-screen and featured performances in several short films, but it wasn't until his starring role on Broadway in 2019 that he made a name for himself.

Over the next few years, Hochman booked minor roles in Lowlives (2017), Paterno (2018) and The Code (2019), all of which was followed by The Sound Inside .

It was like lightning hit my tiny little apartment . It was the style of writing, it was the way that Mary Louise’s character was describing my character, it was the questions the story was asking, the relationship, I just got all of it,” Hochman explained of the show. “I read this thing and thought, 'This is the moment. This is my part.' I’d never felt that before.”

His portrayal of Christopher was praised by dozens of major outlets, including the New York Times , which wrote, “ Believable both as an 18-year-old and an artist, Hochman — and this is saying a lot — is a worthy partner to Parker onstage.”

Although The Sound Inside was Hochman's big break, the actor is really looking forward to working more on the big screen in the future. “ I’d really love to sink my teeth into something like an excellent film; a film that asks hard questions.”

Once he got his shot on Broadway, he began booking larger roles in the films Let Him Go (2020) and Critical Thinking (2020).

In 2020, the actor scored a major role on the hit CBS drama Blue Bloods , where Hochman was introduced as Joe Hill, the previously unknown son of the late Joseph Reagan. Although, it took a while for him to be accepted into the family fully, the Reagans eventually welcomed him with semi-open, cautious arms.

I love the people I work with on Blue Bloods . They’re excellent and curious and imaginative and courageous and funny as hell. It’s a real community. I feel grateful I get to belong to it.”

Hochman has been a member of the cast since season 10 and has integrated himself into the Reagan family, which is a major plot point of the series. “ I think the show resonates with people because it is, at its core, about family,” he shared. “There are certainly exciting plot lines and plenty of action, which is fun to play, but at the end of the day it’s about a loving family navigating life together.”

While filming Blue Bloods on the streets of New York City, Hochman has had roles on other movies as well. He has starred in Master (2022), The Greatest Beer Run Ever (2022) and an episode of Feud (2024).

As Hochman is ready to finish out Blue Bloods with the rest of the cast, his journey will certainly not end there. The actor has shared extensively how thrilled he is to be on the acting path, with three upcoming roles, including Atrabilious , Turning and the series, Before . But where can you find the actor when he’s not prepping for a role or filming? He says that he will either be doing yoga or sweating it out on the basketball court.
