Another practice and another dust up between quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his number one receiver Garrett Wilson. This is the second “heated exchange” between Wilson and Rodgers in three days.

The Jets offense has not looked very good so far early in training camp. There have been penalties, errant snaps from center Joe Tippmann, sacks, and generally poor play going against the vaunted Jets defense.

A lot is made of short videos like this especially in the New York media. There are always writers and media personalities that want to make these little verbal skirmishes more than they are. Some will have you believe that Wilson is mad the Rodgers missed minicamp and others will tell you one is mad about how the other plays.

    Bologna.

This is two competitors who want things to run perfectly and are not happy when it doesn’t go that way. I think this is fantastic. The last thing I want is a team full of guys who think they should win on paper and don’t push themselves to be better.

Aaron Rodgers has been treated like a messiah since he walked in the building at One Jets Drive and nobody challenges him. While he is the most important player (nay, person) in the Jets organization right now, he is not perfect, and he needs to be pushed just like everyone else (I’m trying really hard not to type “iron sharpens iron” here).

For Wilson, he has spent his first two seasons doing everything he can to push the organization forward only to be tied down by the immense weight of terrible offensive coaching and worse quarterback play. I hope he is frustrated with how things have gone so far and I hope he won’t be silent about it.

Teammates must be willing to challenge each other to find greatness and push past what is comfortable. I look at a video like this and I see two guys that know what they are capable of and won’t settle for anything less than perfection from the other.

Let’s not forget, we already saw during training camp what this Rodgers to Wilson connection can be when they are on the same page.

I believe that a special season is coming for Garrett Wilson and we haven’t seen the full potential of what he can be in this league. He knows he can go to another level and Rodgers knows it too. Rodgers also knows he can be the guy to get him there.

I can’t wait to see what he does when he reaches his full potential. It is going to be dangerous for the rest of the league.
