HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Multiple Badcock Home and Furniture stores across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee are shutting down after parent company Conn’s filed for bankruptcy last week.

The chain ran more than a dozen stores across the region and into Robeson and Scotland counties in North Carolina, according to its website.

Badcock in December was acquired by Texas-based Conn’s in a move the company projected would increase its annual revenue by $1.85 billion.

Established in 1904, Badcock ran 380 stores across the country. According to Conn’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing on July 23, it carried between $1 billion and $10 billion in liabilities.

Locations are offering discounts of up to 50% in-person and online as part of the liquidation.
