Michael Phelps' One-Word Response To Simone Biles, USA Gymnastics' Gold Medal Win

Team USA gymnast Simone Biles has etched her name with Olympic greats such as swimmer Michael Phelps and sprinter Usain Bolt after leading the USA women's gymnastics team to a gold medal in the team final on Tuesday afternoon.

Biles led the entire competition in individual points, scoring 58.332. Team USA's final tally of 171.296, which includes performances from Biles, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Jade Carey, beat out the second-place Italy team with a 5.802-point gap.

Phelps, the all-time leader in Olympic gold medals, was excited for Biles and the rest of the USA women's gymnastics team. He posted a one-word message to them on his Instagram story after their victory.

"Congrats," Phelps said with an American flag emoji and five gold medal emojis.

Biles scored over 14.300 points in all four team events. In the first rotation, she recorded a 14.900 in the vault, her highest point total of the day. Next, she tallied a 14.400 in the uneven bars.

In the third rotation, Biles earned a 14.366 score on the balance beam, her lowest total of the day. Finally, she secured a 14.666 in the floor exercise.

Biles picked up her first four Olympic gold medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She has now earned a total of five golds, and she still has the chance to bring home four more from Paris.

Phelps has won a total of 23 gold medals between 2004 and 2016. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics alone, he secured eight of his 23 gold medals.
