Who is the best heavyweight in the UFC? That’s usually an easy answer: The champion. However, the UFC currently has two – Jon Jones , and interim titleholder Tom Aspinall .

Former multi-time light heavyweight champ Jones (27-1 MMA, 21-1 UFC) won the vacant heavyweight belt with a submission of Ciryl Gane in his divisional debut in March 2023, but has yet to defend it due to injury.

Meanwhile, Aspinall (15-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) won the interim belt in November, knocking out Sergei Pavlovich. He then defended it this past Saturday, putting away Curtis Blaydes just 60 seconds into the co-main event of UFC 304 in Manchester, England.

With UFC planning to book Jones against Stipe Miocic in his return at UFC 309 in November, it appears there’s no title unification bout with Aspinall in sight. The situation only fuels the debate around who is actually the best heavyweight right now, and that was a topic of discussion on the latest episode of “Spinning Back Clique.”

MMA Junkie’s Nolan King, Danny Segura, Brian “Goze” Garcia and host “Gorgeous” George Garcia took a stab at that debate, while recapping Aspinall’s big knockout win over Blaydes at UFC 304.
