    Tuesday's News

    - Adrienne Lyle of Greenwood Village finished third in her group in dressage. Lyle and her mount, Helix, will have to wait until Wednesday to see if their position will qualify for the finals.

Though the individual medal could still be a possibility, a medal in the team competition is not. The American team was eliminated when judges spotted blood on the leg of Marcus Orlob’s horse. The blood was the result of a cut and by rule resulted in the team’s disqualification.

    - The U.S 3x3 basketball team that includes Canyon Barry, a Colorado Springs native and Cheyenne Mountain grad, and former BYU star Jimmer Fredette of Denver was beaten 22-14 by Serbia in its opening game of pool play.

    - Nuggets guard Jamal Murray scored five points with five assists, helping Canada top Australia 93-83. Canada is now 2-0 in pool play.

    Three to watch

Looking ahead to Wednesday’s Olympic action with a focus on those with Colorado connections.

    1. The U.S. women’s volleyball team, which opened with a loss to China, will return to action with a must-win match against Serbia.

Doherty graduate Haleigh Washington and Aurora native Jordyn Poulter are starters for Team USA.

Volleyball is just one of the team sports in action. The U.S. women’s soccer team, which includes state products Lindsey Horan (Golden), Sophia Smith (Windsor) and Mallory Swanson (Highlands Ranch) play Australia in group play.

In men’s team basketball, the U.S. faces South Sudan as Parker’s Derrick White looks to stay on track for his first Olympic medal. Nuggets’ MVP Nikola Jokic leads Serbia into a critical matchup with Puerto Rico.

    2. Boulder’s Taylor Knibb is scheduled to compete in the women’s triathlon, but the schedule remains in doubt. The men’s competition was postponed Tuesday because of water pollution levels in the Seine.

    3. Shooter Rylan William Kissell, a Littleton native who now resides in Colorado Springs, will undergo qualifying in his third and final event of the Games, the men’s 50m rife 3 position.

Kissell has finished 13th and 35th in two events thus far in Paris.
