Shilo Sanders Makes Head-Turning Statement About His College Football Career

Across the country in college football, we are starting to see more and more sons of football legends.

It makes us feel old as our childhood heroes now have kids in college, and those athletes are naturally a bigger pull than the average college athlete.

We saw it with Marvin Harrison Jr. at Ohio State and are experiencing it with Texas' Arch Manning, although he hasn't played very much.

However, there is one family in college football that is without a doubt the biggest draw in the sport at the moment, which is the Sanders family at Colorado.

Head coach Deion Sanders headlines the Buffaloes, who have two of his sons on the team: star quarterback and projected first-round pick Shedeur Sanders and safety Shilo Sanders. Shilo is the older brother and has been in college since 2019, starting his career at South Carolina.

He played two seasons there before following his father to Jackson State for his first head coaching job at the college level. After two seasons at Jackson State Sanders is now heading into what will be his second season, which he expressed in a recent Reach The People video, he isn't thrilled with.

"I know they got me in this dumb yellow jersey even though I don’t even need to be in one," Sanders said who then expressed his career should have been over when asked about the 2024 season. “It should have been over. Bro, y’all act like I don’t know I’m 24. Y’all think I want to be playing college right now? No."

Sanders led the team in tackles last season and was draft-eligible, but his father/coach decided it was best for him and his brother to return for one final year. He did express that he understood why his father wanted them back.

"You have a family restaurant, you can’t just venture off and do your own thing. You got to stick with the family as long as you can," Sanders said.

While the move may work out for his brother, who is a projected top-10 pick and has a chance to be the first quarterback off the board, Shilo's NFL draft stock is a bit of a mystery. However, a solid season where he performs well and the Buffs win some games may only help his case.
