Amazon Alexa down updates – Voice assistant faces outage as users get ‘can’t do that’ message when trying to play music

AMAZON Alexa is currently experiencing an outage as hundreds are struggling to access the service.

Over 300 Amazon Alexa users reported issues with the personal assistant application just before 8;15 pm EST, according to Downdetector.

Around half of the reported problems are associated with Alexa's ability to connect.

Alexa users took out their frustrations on X, with one writing, "@AmazonHelp Alexa seems to not be responding on any device, is there a server down? We ask to play music and she says she can’t do that right now and try again in a little while," another added.

Amazon Help responded to the tweet, "Hello! We're sorry to hear about any frustration or concerns with Alexa not playing any music. Please try back in a little while.

"You can also reach out to us by phone or chat so that we can review further with you here"

If Amazon Alexa is struggling to play music, Amazon recommends the following steps,

• Turn off devices you're not using to speed up your WiFi
• Move Alexa away from walls, metal objects, or sources of interference
• Move Alexa away from the floor
• Connect Alexa to your router
• Make sure Amazon Tap batteries are charged
• Restart your WiFi
• Verify your network firewall has these ports open: 123, 443, 4070, 5353, 33434, 40317, and 49317
