A WALMART customer is demanding a refund after accusing the store of overcharging her for her purchase.

The outraged shopper said she would return to the retail giant to get her money back.

In July 2024, Lynda Leigh Page Stringfellow claimed she was overcharged at Walmart via a Facebook post, calling it a "Public Service Announcement."

The disgruntled customer wrote, "I was overcharged at Walmart this evening. Watch your cashier and your receipts.

"I will go back tomorrow to get a refund!!!"

Shoppers took to the comments to share their Walmart experiences, with one claiming he was charged $14.99 for a $2.99 item.

Steven Smith wrote, "I was overcharged three weeks ago. I bought a $2.99 item and was charged $14.99!"

Smith said that the "bar code on the item matched the UPC code on the receipt."

"Then, when I went to get my money back, they had to view security film to be sure I didn't get the item they charged me for!"

The shopper then claimed that there was "no error on my part" since he did not use the self-checkout lane.

He continued, "This is NOT the first time I've been overcharged, but it is probably the last.

"There is nothing Walmart sells that I can't get somewhere else. And, on another note, I know several people who have been overcharged on their pickup orders."

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.

    OTHER OVERCHARGES

Multiple customers have claimed on social media that they were overcharged by Walmart.

One shopper claimed he was overcharged $106 by the retail giant.

Jerry Blevins explained the situation in a Facebook post.

"I went back to the register and got a blank look then I went to customer service," he said.

"Got a refund and also let them know about the actions of the cashier."

How to check whether stores are overcharging

    • Shoppers should always double-check the label of the item they are holding with the label on a store's shelves
    • If the product was placed in the wrong spot, you could be looking at an inaccurate price
    • At self-checkout make sure to compare the price that is ringed up with the price you saw on the salesfloor
    • For weighted items, it's important to check whether the scale is set to zero before weighing produce
    • Stores are required to show the weight on the display, so managers should be notified if it's hidden
    • Scales also shouldn't be touching any other part of the self-checkout
    • After paying, shoppers should compare what they paid with the salesfloor price of the items

Another customer claimed Walmart overcharged him $200.

Facebook post, Dale Berry said he only purchased "a bag of dog food, 12 cans of ole Roy dog food, one gallon of Milo's tea, a bottle of coconut oil, and a Dr.Pepper."

However, his total came out to $257.20.

Berry also said that when customers "swipe a card at Walmart in case of a refund," the retailer puts the money back on their card in three to ten 10 days.

"WELL THEY CHANGED THAT POLICY ON THE SPOT..with CASH," he continued.
