YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – More than 60 Midstate kids and adults were learning baseball skills from coaches and players with the York Revolution on Tuesday.

“It makes my heart so happy. One of my initiatives, once I became the community engagement manager here, was to make our ballpark more inclusive,” said York Revolution community engagement manager Brianna Klinger.

This is the second time the team hosted an event like this. It’s made possible through the nonprofit Beautiful Lives Project . They are an organization that travels around the United States giving people with disabilities opportunities they may not experience otherwise.

“The participants are able to make friends with the Revolution players and coaches, create lifelong memories through baseball and gain confidence in themselves to have success in life and overcome obstacles and challenges that are placed in their way,” said Beautiful Lives Project co-founder Bryce Weiler.

Weiler is from Illinois and started the nonprofit in 2017 after being able to sit on the basketball bench at the University of Evansville when he was a student.

“I do it to allow everyone the experience I had in college. At Evansville I had people who believed in me and wanted to help me to be able to experience college basketball,” said Weiler.

Weiler has been blind since he was three days old.

“I want to show the participants here they can do anything they dream of doing,” said Weiler.

Weiler says the nonprofit does about 40-50 events a year.
