Liverpool transfer news as Arne Slot move 'accelerates' and $65m Juventus swap mooted

As a move for a defensive midfielder accelerates, a center-back is also said to be on the radar of sporting director Richard Hughes , who said at the start of the month that August would see a "crescendo" of activity in the market.

Arne Slot move 'accelerates'

Liverpool is "accelerating" its search for a defensive midfielder this summer because of ongoing interest in Wataru Endo , according to Football Insider . The Reds have rejected an offer of $15m (£12m/€14m) from Marseille for the Japanese star.

Endo was brought in last summer when Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia chose to move to Chelsea. With Jordan Henderson and Fabinho opting for Saudi Arabia at the same time, Liverpool needed more bodies — but at 31, Endo was never going to be the ideal long-term fix.

A year on, it remains to be seen whether or not there is a player out there who Liverpool deems perfect. If there was, the chances are, a move would already have been made. It's not like it is a surprise that the position needs strengthening.

Liverpool.com says: It would be ideal if Liverpool could sign a holding midfielder this summer but it won't be just getting someone in for the sake of it. The position has been a priority for a while but Alexis Mac Allister can do the job for a bit longer if necessary.

Gleison Bremer (Juventus)

Liverpool wants to sign Gleison Bremer this summer. But in order to make a deal happen, it could offer players in part exchange because that might potentially lower the asking price for the Brazilian.

That is according to Todofichajes . The report claims that Arne Slot is very interested in signing the Juventus center-back as a replacement for Joel Matip . Juventus values Bremer at $65m (£51m/€60m) at the moment. It is not mentioned which players Liverpool could send the other way as part of the deal.

Liverpool.com says: At the age of 27, Bremer feels like a pretty unlikely target. Swap deals very rarely happen and there are no obvious players that Liverpool would be willing to sacrifice that Juventus would be interested in.
