    Severe thunderstorms popping up in some metro Atlanta counties

    Another round of potentially strong storms will move through north Georgia on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

    Several severe thunderstorms popped up south of metro Atlanta.

    LIVE UPDATES:

    5:27 p.m.

    A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Putnam County until 6:15 p.m.

    5:25 p.m.

    A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Upson County until 5:45 p.m.

    A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Butts, Henry and Spalding counties until 4:30 p.m. That warning has since expired.

    Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz is tracking these storms, which could produce damaging wind gusts.

    In addition to storms, a few counties will have to deal with dangerous heat with an advisory in place.

    Here’s what to know for Wednesday.

    • Storms will again move from northwest to southeast across the area
    • Strong wind gusts, heavy downpours main impacts
    • Heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Banks, Barrow, Butts, Clarke, Greene, Henry, Jackson, Jasper, Lamar, Madison, Meriwether, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Pike, Putnam, Rockdale, Spalding, Troup, Upson and Walton counties
    • Heat index up to 109 degrees possible
